About the Magic Maize Project
The YPA Maize Project operates on a three – year contract basis, encompassing six distinct planting seasons. Here’s a breakdown of the key points:
- Land and Investment: Farmers can secure a one-acre maize plot for a one-time fee of 3,500,000 UGX.
- Harvest and Earnings: Following each successful harvest season (approximately every six months), farmers receive a payout of 1.3 million UGX. However, it’s important to note that farmers will receive payouts for six seasons excluding their initial investment.
Season Sharing:
- YPA takes responsibility for managing all aspects of planting across all six seasons, ensuring best practices and maximizing yields.
Contract Completion and Reinvestment:
- If farmers wish to continue participating in the project beyond the initial contract, they can choose to reinvest their earnings into a new three-year contract.
