Job Brief

Youth Platform Africa (YPA) is looking for a visionary and seasoned Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team. As the COO, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the operational strategies that drive our mission to empower the youth across Africa through agribusiness initiatives. This role demands a dedicated leader who is passionate about agribusiness and development and has a proven track record in operational management

  1. Develop aggressive strategies and drive results with a no-excuse mindset.
  2. Ensure compliance and competence across all departments, monitoring
    KPIs, systems, and structures.
  3. Collaborate with department heads to develop and implement strategic
    initiatives.
  4. Possess a strong memory and attention to detail, ensuring thorough follow through on all activities and tasks.
  5. Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process improvement.
  6. Implement business strategies and plans that align with the short- and
    long-term objectives developed in tandem with CEO.
  7. Oversee all departments, and work with CEO in sales management so that sufficient investment capital can be budgeted for near-term growth targets.
  8. Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to ensure that the company achieves investor targets for growth and profitability.
  9. Monitor performance with tracking software and take corrective measures when necessary, and prepare detailed updates and forecasts.
  10. Build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients,
    partners, and stakeholders.
  11. Create and maintain pressure in a professional manner to ensure timely execution of objectives.
  12. Demonstrate strong command of voice and language, effective in
    communication at all levels.
  13. Provide effective leadership by listening, offering lasting solutions, and
    fostering open communication.
  14. Display flexibility and adaptability in navigating dynamic business
    environments.
  15. Innovate and bring new ideas into the organization to drive growth and
    competitive advantage.
  16. Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills to leverage technology for
    operational efficiency.
  17. Stay ahead of industry trends and competition, anticipating future
    challenges and opportunities.
  18. Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
  19. Efficiently allocate and manage resources to maximize productivity and
    minimize waste.
  20. Streamline processes to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  21. Implement quality control measures to uphold organizational standards and customer satisfaction.
  22. Ensure proficiency with relevant systems and technology platforms to support operations.
  23. Develop and manage budgets, allocating resources effectively to support strategic objectives.
  24. Delegate tasks appropriately to empower and develop team members.
  25. Cultivate a culture of high efficiency and productivity throughout the organization.
  26. Facilitate weekly management meetings to align strategies, assess
    performance, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven experience in senior management roles, with a track record of driving operational excellence and achieving results.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and resource management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • 10 years of experience in operations and leadership roles.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues
  • Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues
