October 15, 2023, marked yet another glorious day for a set of new investors in the YPA goats’ project, who successfully paid a visit to the company’s farm in Gomba to have a glance and witness the progress of their investment.
Investors gathered early in the morning at YPA Nansana, the designated meeting point, filled with a mixture of anticipation and curiosity. Today, they would be visiting the Gomba Goats Farm, where they had invested and held shares. It was an opportunity for them to witness the progress and growth of their investments first-hand. Their excitement was palpable as they embarked on this journey to the farm in Gomba.
The convoy of investors set off, winding its way through the picturesque countryside of Uganda. As they left the outskirts of Nansana behind, beautiful landscapes stretched out before them, with lush green fields and rolling hills. The serenity of the surroundings became a metaphor for the investments they had made, full of potential and growth.
Upon arriving, a heavy downpour blessed the ground of the Youth Platform Africa Mighty Goats Farm. As the rain stopped, the investors eagerly started moving out of the buses, and they were greeted by a warm reception.
Many could not bear what their eyes showed them, one of which was the sprawling farm extended as far as the eye could see, with dedicated spaces for the goats to graze and relax. The meticulously maintained infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities indeed indicate the dedication and professionalism of the farm’s management.
When all the investors entered the goats’ shelter, Obedi Ben, the general manager of youth platform Africa, blessed the event with a word of prayer. Ben proceeded with a simple ten to fifteen-minute training on financial literacy, investment, the dynamics and fundamentals of goat farming, and how the best investors can double their profits.
Shortly after, the main purpose of the farm visit, which was for the investor to see the goats, was underway, as all the investors who trekked the journey now had a chance of seeing and taking photos with their goats.
As the investors were taken on a guided tour, their anticipation transformed into amazement. They marvelled at the sheer size of the operation and the healthy condition of the goats. For many, this was the first time they had seen their investments in action. Overwhelmed with the progress and success of the farm, the investors eagerly shared their testimonials.
One of those who were excited was Lutaaya Sam. Sam was delighted to physically visit the YPA farm in Gomba and attest to seeing his goats. Lutaaya has hopes of gradually increasing his investment by buying more stocks as he anticipates profits in the near future.
Nakazibwe Saidat was also an investor who represented her daughter, Nabosa Edrich. She got to know about YPA through her daughter, who advised her to invest in the goat’s project, and since her daughter is still a school-going child, Nakazibwe decided to invest on behalf of her daughter as a next of kin and appreciates the quality of goats that she found at the farm, advising other people to grow their money through investing in the YPA project as opposed to keeping stagnant savings. Nakazibwe agrees and advises those who don’t have time for active goat farming to embrace the YPA goat’s project.
Over 60 investors were satisfied with what they saw, but most importantly, this was the investment they had been looking for years. As one wrote , Food is culture. Food is an identity—a footprint of who you are. The investors had to taste goats’ meat, and indeed, what met their taste buds was nothing short of their expectations.
What is the best way to close this trip with the questions and answers of the session and indeed? Obed Ben answered the question but emphasized and highlighted the success of the farm, attributing it to the collective efforts of the management and the trust invested by the investors. Ben encouraged others to join this transformative endeavour, assuring them that the benefits reached far beyond mere financial gains.
He stressed how the farm had played a significant role in transforming the local economy, providing employment opportunities, and fostering sustainable agricultural practices. Ben’s words resonated deeply with the investors, inspiring many of them to consider expanding their investments further.
As the day ended, the investors departed from Gomba Goats Farm filled with a sense of satisfaction and immense pride. The visit reinforced their belief in the transformative potential of investing in sustainable agriculture. They left with a renewed enthusiasm to share their experiences and encourage others to join this remarkable journey of financial growth and positive impact on the economy.
