THE MIGHTY YPA GOATS PROJECT

With a focus on breeding, we empower farmers to improve livestock productivity & profitability.

About the Project

The Goats Agribusiness Project stands as the flagship project and a key pillar in our mission to economically empower individuals through agribusiness. This initiative is designed to provide individuals, groups and companies with a complete, end-to-end solution for launching and managing successful goat farming ventures. Through this program, clients can purchase high-quality goats directly from YPA, carefully selected for health, resilience, and productivity. We ensure access to a wide range of improved pasture species, offering the best varieties of nutritious grass essential for optimal animal growth. In addition to inputs, members receive practical, hands-on training in modern goat rearing techniques, pasture management, and overall agribusiness operations.

Two Tailored Models for Goat Farming

The Active Model

Designed for individuals or organizations that already have land and time to be involved in day to-day farm management. In this model, YPA provides technical support, pasture, professional staffing, training, and market linkage, while the client remains hands-on in the operation of the farm.

The Passive Model

Ideal for individuals who may not have land, time, or the technical know-how to manage a farm. Under this arrangement, YPA takes full responsibility for managing the farm — including land, goat care, staffing, and marketing — while the client receives regular reports and agreed-upon returns on investment.

With a current portfolio of over 110,000 goats, access to professional services, and a solid market network, YPA’s Goats Agribusiness Project continues to be a proven pathway to financial independence, food security, and sustainable development in Africa.

Additionally, we offer training on best practices for raising these quality breeds, including proper nutrition, breeding techniques, and health management. By equipping farmers with the knowledge and resources they need, we empower them to enhance their agricultural practices and improve their overall economic stability.

How The Passive Model Works

The Passive Model is perfect for people who wish to invest in goat farming but lack the time, land, or technical expertise to manage the farm themselves. With this model, YPA takes on the full responsibility of rearing and managing the goats on their behalf, ensuring a stress-free and profitable experience.

Here's how it works:

You purchase a goat from YPA, and for the next three years, YPA will take care of all aspects of goat farming including the risks involved. This includes pasture management, veterinary care, herding, security, insurance and overall farm management. Every year, YPA will rear your goat(s) and, at the end of the contract, you will have three goats — one per year.

At the end of the three years, YPA retains the mother goats (initial capital) as part of our management fee. This model ensures that you benefit from a steadily growing goat herd without the daily involvement in farm operations.

At the end of the term, YPA will sell your goats, ensuring that the price is not below the price at which you originally purchased them. The proceeds from the sale of your goats, minus the agreed-upon fee for YPA’s management, will be passed on to you.

This model offers a hands-off investment in agribusiness, with guaranteed returns and minimal risk. YPA’s experienced team ensures that your goats are well-cared for throughout the duration of the contract, allowing you to focus on other priorities while your investm

One of the key advantages of joining YPA’s Goats Agribusiness is guaranteed access to high-value markets. We connect farmers to ready buyers in both domestic and international markets, ensuring the profitability and sustainability of every venture.

OUR BREED – The Mighty YPA Goat Breed

At YPA, we take great pride in offering a custom-made goat breed that has been carefully selected for its superior qualities. The YPA Goat Breed is a cross between three distinct and highly valued breeds: the Mubende (local breed), Boer (from South Africa), and Kalahari (from Asia). This unique crossbreed has been specifically developed to combine the best traits of each parent breed. The Mubende is known for its adaptability to local environmental conditions, while the Boer and Kalahari are renowned for their rapid growth, excellent meat production, and high fertility rates.
The YPA Goat Breed is not only hardy and well-suited for the diverse climates across Africa, but it also boasts excellent meat quality, rapid weight gain, and resilience to disease. This makes it an ideal choice for both smallholder farmers and larger-scale agribusiness ventures, ensuring high productivity and profitability. Our breed is selected for its excellent reproductive potential and ability to thrive in various environmental conditions, making it a reliable and sustainable choice for any goat farming initiative.
