Empowering the Youth in Agribusiness: YPA and Nexus International University’s Unique Skilling Opportunity

In a ground-breaking move towards fostering agribusiness skills among the youth, the general manager of Youth Platform Africa, Obed Ben, announced an exciting initiative during a TikTok Live session. This remarkable opportunity, a joint venture between the youth platform Africa and Nexus University, aims to equip both vacists and goat enthusiasts with practical knowledge through hands-on training at the YPA Farm in Gomba. The program is set to commence on December 9th and will span either three or one month, providing participants with an immersive experience in goat farming.

The initiative comes as a response to the growing interest in agribusiness, particularly among young individuals eager to explore innovative and sustainable opportunities in the field of goat rearing. Recognizing the need for practical training, the YPA and Nexus University collaboration seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.

Participants in the program will have the unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of goat farming, gaining valuable insights and skills that will contribute to their personal and professional development. The hands-on training at the YPA Farm in Gomba ensures that participants not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also develop the practical expertise necessary to succeed in the agribusiness sector, particularly goats.

One of the distinguishing features of this skill opportunity is its inclusivity. “Whether you are a vacist looking to expand your skill set during a break or a goat enthusiast eager to turn your passion into a thriving business, the program caters to individuals from diverse backgrounds,” Obed adds.

To enroll in the program, interested individuals are required to register and gain admission by paying a registration fee of 20,000 shillings. This nominal fee reflects the organization’s passion for making quality agricultural education accessible to a wide range of participants.

The program offers two options for the duration of the training: a comprehensive three-month course and a condensed one-month option. The three-month course, priced at 500,000 shillings, provides an extensive curriculum that covers various aspects of goat farming on various farms. Participants will undergo a transformative journey from December to February, emerging with a thorough understanding of goat farming.
During the training, they will be able to tap into the knowledge of goat enthusiast Obed Ben.
For those with time constraints, the one-month program offers an intensive learning experience at a cost of 250,000 shillings.

By combining the resources and expertise of YPA and Nexus University, this agribusiness skilling opportunity represents a significant step towards creating a generation of skilled and informed agripreneurs. The initiative not only addresses the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the agribusiness sector but also contributes to the broader goal of fostering sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
Through this initiative, participants can look forward to not only gaining valuable skills but also contributing to the growth of the number of goats in the country.
